The more often a man feels without acting, the less he'll be able to act. And in the long run, the less he'll be able to feel.

The Bayridge Family Center can help you find the right treatment and recovery program for depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, seasonal affective disorder, and other mood disorders. Hamilton residents have used our Certified Life Coaches to help them improve and enhance their quality of life, as part of their ongoing treatment. Call 905-319-1488 today!  Almost every person will experience feelings of anxiety at some point in their life. The worry associated with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is chronic and persistent usually accompanied by unrealistic thoughts. This worry may be difficult to control, affecting concentration and emotional well-being. Phone counselling at Bayridge Family Center can provide the opportunity for reflection, self-exploration, and insight. Call us today at 905-319-1488!  IT WORKS!

Our program works! It has proven to be successful over and over again for those suffering with stress, depression, anxiety and bi-polar disorder.
  • No Waiting Lists: No waiting list, and drugs are optional! Wouldn't it be great to feel good again! For some of you, maybe even to feel good for the first time? Don't suffer in silence! Give me a call today. I would love to talk with you so we can find some solutions together. I will call you back as soon as posible, I promise!
  • No Medication: Medication for many is part of recovery. However for many others it is not an option, out of principle or their bodies seem to be medication resistant. Medicating for mood disorders is similar to driving with a tire with a slow leak. Medication is like filling it up every day. But by the next day it is low again. Our program looks for the source of the leak, to see if there is a nail puncture, or a rim leak. We see if there is wearing on the rubber due to an alignment problem. There usually are several things that need to be done to correct the problem long term. Medication may or may not be part of it.

    Well then read on!

Often people would like to know, "Will I always be on medication?" "Is there anything I can do to help myself?" With depression and anxiety there just aren't any guarantees, but there are certainly proven strategies that can help to get you symptom free and feeling good. Let's take a look at what we can do for you and more importantly, what you can do for yourself!

At Bayridge, we strongly believe in a more holistic systemic approach. We like to look at the bigger picture, the whole person. So although medications are great, they don't solve the whole problem because you are more than just some chemicals. We often say, "Meds are like water wings; they keep you floating but they don't teach you how to swim!"

Medication may be helpful in bringing down the intensity of the emotions you are feeling. It may help your concentration, sleeping and slowing down a racing mind. Some research studies show that they alleviate about 50% of the symptoms or bring the intensity down about 50%.

You need to get to the point where you're ready to say "Never again!" Never again will I let depression/anxiety dictate my life. Never again will I stay home because I'm too anxious to go out to a party, or to work or to a family function. Humans have a need to change things in their life when they get disturbed enough. But equally importantly, you have to know what you're going to do instead. You can't just be moving away from a problem; you have to move towards something you want. You have to know exactly what you're after. Now you need an action plan, and we at Bayridge Family Center have just the right one for you!

One of the most important things is helping change your beliefs. What is a belief? The Oxford dictionary defines "belief" this way; "acceptance as true". If you believe you can't get up at 6:00am, you won't. If you believe you need 10 hours sleep, you better believe you'll get it because you'll think you can't function without it. If you believe you have no control over your depression/anxiety, you won't because why bother if you're already certain nothing is going to help.

Whether you believe you can or believe you can't, you're right, because when you feel certain about something you're going to find it, you're going to make it happen. Our job here at the clinic is helping you change your beliefs so that you're certain you can change your depression/anxiety, and we are going to give you the tools to do so. The most clinically proven strategy, and equally effective as medication, is cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). This is the cornerstone of our program.

Persistent sad, anxious, or empty mood, feelings of helplessness, guilt, or worthlessness are features of a depressive episode. These episodes are often offset with sustained periods of unusual, even bizarre, behavior with significant risk-taking, known as manic episodes. If you are experiencing these cycles of mood, the team at the Bayridge Family Center wants to offer you professional assessment and treatment. Call 905-319-1488 and start your road to recovery.  On going support is part of the success at the Bayridge Family Center for those seeking bipolar treatment. Call us today at 905-319-1488 to set up an appointment to speak with one of our staff, and start living again.  Every single day we speak with mood sufferers just like you to find real answers to the very tough questions of living with the overwhelming and scary emotions of anxiety and or depression, including Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and Bipolar Disorder.

Recent research sounds the alarm bell that early detection and early treatment is critical for good outcomes. You do not want to ignore this medical problem. Just ask anyone that has a severe case of anxiety or depression. They NEVER EVER want to go back there. It is a very dark place.

A proven breakthrough in the mental healthcare field is the use of cognitive behavioural therapy. Burlington is home to the Bayridge Family Center and they use this therapy to treat such things as eating disorders, substance abuse, co-dependency and "enabling". Call us today at 905-319-1488 and see how our program can help you.  Cognitive behavioural therapy for those in Hamilton is as close as the Bayridge Family Center. Our trained and knowledgeable staff wants to help you or a love one on the journey back to wellness. Problems can be overcome with proper treatment.
